I tried Apple Cider Vinegar capsules for 2 weeks: Here’s what happened

Unless you live under a rock, I’m sure you’ve heard about all the benefits of apple cider vinegar (ACV). Just in case you need a reminder here are just a few from Pinterest.

You’ve probably also seen a ton of ACV detox drinks on Pinterest as well.

Sooooo here’s the thing… No matter how I doctor it up I can’t drink ACV! It’s gross!

The intolerable drinks are what led me to the ACV capsules. I did some research and found what I thought was the best based on ingredients and reviews. I went with Havasu Nutrition’s capsules. They are available on Amazon and prime eligible.

The directions on the bottle say to take two capsules, 1-2 hours prior to physical activity, with food.   So I take mine midday with my afternoon snack right before I leave the office. Early evenings are usually my most active time, it’s gym and/or running around with the kids.

So after two weeks here’s what I’ve noticed:

  1. My blood sugar seems to be more stable. I’m the type of person that when I get hungry I get the shakes. By shakes I mean that weak, light headed feeling that when you hold your hands out they shake. I’m not hypoglycemic or diabetic but when my body needs food it let’s me know! Since I started the ACV I haven’t had this issue and my diet hasn’t changed.
  2. My worst fear about any type of cleanse is having serious poop situations. Haha, I know TMI! But hey these are the things people want to know! Well, I didn’t have any issues but I did notice that the “digestive process” was regulated. Regulated like clockwork!
  3. I don’t feel bloated. (Note: I said feel not look.) I thought I would lose a few inches of bloat or water weight once I started the regiment, but I haven’t. I definitely feel a difference though.

So there you have it! I haven’t noticed any uptick in my weight loss efforts or other body changes like in my hair or skin. These results might be different if you are strong enough to drink it. I plan on continuing to take the capsules. I think my body is benefiting from the cleansing properties.

I would advise you to research ACV capsules before purchasing. They are not regulated by the FDA and the nutrients may vary from brand to brand.

  1. Interesting—I see you have solved the problem. For years, a wee swish of apple cider kept my chronic acid reflux in control, but now I make kombucha, which tastes like a drink, not a medicine. Then again, some can’t stand the taste of kombucha. I still use apple cider in salad dressings—no go for you?
